Outdoor kitchens built to suit your lifestyle.

Westchester homes are known for their beautiful and spacious backyards. During long spring days, sweet summer nights and fresh fall afternoons, our backyards become a unique living space. Very few things make time in the backyard better for family living and modern entertainment then an outdoor kitchen.

For years, outdoor kitchens have been a staple throughout the sunbelt states and in recent years, their popularity has brought them north. Thanks in large part to new, more seasonal friendly building materials and appliances, outdoor kitchens are finally a practical option for homeowners in our 4 season climate.

Recently more and more of our customers have asked us to apply our unique luxury kitchen designs to the great outdoors to create custom outdoor kitchens and living spaces for their homes’.

      Have questions? Let's talk

      Outdoor Kitchens: Location, Location!

We can take just about any space and transform it into an outdoor kitchen, but the location is essential.

First, the space must be large enough to accommodate all of your guests comfortably. Your new outdoor kitchen may become the focal point of your backyard, but it must do so while retaining the charming exterior qualities of being outside – grass, trees, and gardens, etc., its the landscape that will make it unique. Your outdoor kitchen must feel, unmistakably outdoorsy while harnessing all of the creature comforts of modern life.

Standard kitchens have always been and will always be the focal point of a home. It is where everyone gathers to eat, drink, and make memories.

Outdoor kitchens really turn this idea on its head: same appliances, same activities – whole new location.

Outdoor kitchens are picking up in popularity here in Westchester and we are excited to come along for the ride! Our customers are taking a second look at their decks and patios and wondering what our outdoor kitchen design team could bring to their space. Some homeowners are looking for a simple built-in cooking area, while others want weather protection, fans, lighting, a gas line, refrigeration, sinks, built-in-furniture and often a bar area. Yes! We can run tap lines or help make a plan for a hidden keg in an under-counter refrigerator. Want a TV? Who wouldn’t, watching a movie or big game by the pool sounds great!

House to Kitchen, Kitchen to Dining, Dining to Relaxing:

Having a solid layout will make the whole indoor/outdoor thing much more enjoyable so you need to consider this. Chances are you will still be doing a lot of your food prep indoors, so the exterior kitchen should be situated near your interior kitchen. For larger homes, we suggest building a breezeway connecting both.

This keeps the outdoor kitchen shaded and sheltered from the rain, but it will also allow for kitchen carts to easily transport food and supplies.

For many outdoor kitchen designs, the practical breezeway expands into an open but cozy pavilion that extends beyond the kitchen area to encompass a dedicated dining area. Beyond that, you have an outdoor lounging area, play area, swimming pool, bar or both!

From a pizza oven on one side to a sink and dishwasher on the other, your outdoor kitchen will have everything you need, including several cooking surfaces.

The centerpiece will be your built-in gas grill which will ensure plenty of cook space to feed both family and friends. We suggest including a flat top grill for Hibachi stir fry – always a crowd pleaser – and two side burners for preparing sauces and side dishes, a power burner for boiling water for the lobster and a Big Green Egg for smoking ribs and BBQ.

On top, connecting all of these sits a magnificent stone countertop. Matching the indoor and outdoor kitchen counter really ties the spaces together for family and provides a lovely consistency.

For larger kitchen areas, we suggest including an oversized sink, built-in storage, under counter refrigeration, a dishwasher and access to water, gas and electricity.

For bars, we suggest an ice machine, tap lines and a TV that can be hidden away.

      Getting Comfortable Outside

Beyond a dedicated dining area, many homeowners also want a separate uncovered seating space for socializing in the sun or under the stars.  These areas should be food-friendly as well with plenty of side tables.

Teak furniture or wrought iron always looks clean, make sure you have plenty of cushions and a few recliners and maybe even a classic hammock.

Set aside a play area for the kids. Select an area where you can easily watch them, away from the pool, a place that is clear of obstacles and thick with grass is ideal so slips and little falls are no worry!

We know this is very specific but we want to help give you ideas – design is all about imagination and we have no shortage!
